Good afternoon everyone,
I just want to start off by saying how nice it was see some familiar faces this afternoon as students/parents came to the school to pick up locker contents. Just a reminder that the last day to pick up contents will be Monday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Next week, ERS teachers will be contacting you regarding the continuation of learning for students in their courses. Teachers may be reaching you via email or phone calls. The most common method of communication at first will most likely be via email.
In preparation for future learning, I would like to direct you to the instructions below. These instructions will show you how to access student emails for SD83 students. Every SD83 student has a SD83 email. Staff will be using this email to communicate with students. Some teachers may also be using ‘TEAMS’ to share learning resources and video conference with students. Some of our students have already been using this resource in their regular classrooms.
Accessing School Email and Teams
I hope that you are all able to enjoy some relaxing family time this weekend. Feel free to reach out to via email (email@example.com) or phone (250-836-2831) if you have any questions.
Mr. Mark Marino
Principal – ERS
Good afternoon everyone,
While teachers have been busy contacting families, support staff and admin have been getting ready for students to collect their belongings.
We have a tight timeline but we are asking that pick-up of personal belongings (contents in lockers) occur tomorrow, Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6th.
- Grade 7, 8 and 9 students can come to the building from 12:30 pm to 3 pm on FRIDAY, April 3rd to collect their belongings.
- Grade 10, 11 and 12 students can come to the building from 9:30 am to 12 pm on MONDAY, April 6th to collect their belongings.
It is our hope that families will be able to attend during these time however, we understand that this might not be possible and families will need alternate times. Please call the office if you need to arrange an alternate time.
Students will line up outside of the gym (practicing social distancing – we will have pylons lined up for guidance) and they will be handed their locker contents. Students will not be entering the school building. We understand that this is less than ideal however, this system best ensures that our custodial staff are able to maintain their cleaning standards.
We will be keeping any school district library and textbooks that are found in lockers and we ask that if you have any of these items at home that you RETURN them to the school when you come to pick up your belongings.
In addition to this, we will be returning all personally owned/privately rented band instruments to you.
Jazz Band students who have SD 83 owned instruments have the option to keep them at home until June and can request to have their instrument ready for them to take home on Friday or Monday – but need to call ahead and request this. Jazz Band students can also choose to return their instruments this week if they do not intend to continue with our online class.
Band 7/8 students – we are requesting that any SD83 instruments that you may have at home please be returned when you come to pick up your belongings as your class was set to end this month anyway.
There is the potential for the parking lot to get busy. We appreciate your patience and ask that you remember to practice social distancing.
Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
Dear Parents and Students of Eagle River Secondary,
As you are aware of by now, the physical building of Eagle River Secondary is closed due to COVIT-19. As I walked into the school this morning, it was odd to not hear noises coming the gym due to AM Fitness, the chattering of students in the hallways or the musical tunes from the piano next to the band room. I am sure that you are also finding it difficult adjusting to our current reality. I am also sure that you have more questions than answers right now – I will do my best to answer your questions throughout the week and beyond.
The goal this week is to connect with you all via a phone call. You will be receiving a phone call from one or our staff members this week. As we are familiarizing ourselves with a new on-line system, this phone call will may not come from the ERS telephone number; it will be generated through teachers’ computers. The goal of the phone call is to reconnect with students and families and to determine how we can best support continued learning. I know that this will look different for each family.
Please be aware that our staff misses you all – we miss the social interactions with you and our shared learning experiences. We all look forward to the time when we can all be in the same building together!
Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school at (250-836-2831) if you have any questions.
March 9th-March 13th is Communication Week at ERS. We feel that effective communication between home and school is central to students’ success.
Parents can expect communication home for 2nd Semester classes in the form of an email, a phone call and/or a student progress report (which will be given to your child at school).
We encourage you to contact the school at 250-836-2831 if you have any questions/concerns regarding the progress of your child.
