Posted on 2020-09-09 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Hello ERS Families,

The first day of school has arrived — it is tomorrow (Thursday, September 10). As already mentioned there will be different start and end times for our Grade 7-8 group and our Grade 9-12 group. Our block order on Thursday will be B/A and it then it will be A/B on Friday. This will all be explained to the students tomorrow.

Arrival Procedures

  • Grade 7-8s will enter through the middle doors. Doors will be open at 9:10 am. Students will go directly to their B block class with Mr. Wagstaff (Grade 7) or Ms. Mellin (Grade 8). Halfway through the block they will be called down to the gym for a short assembly. They will have lunch from 12:00 to 12:40 and be dismissed at 3:30. Students will have gym in the afternoon so please remember to bring a water bottle and gym strip. Just a reminder that Grade 7 and 8s are not allowed off school property during lunch time.
  • Grade 9-12s will enter through the doors by the gym. Doors will be open at 9:15 am. Students will go directly to the GYM for an important assembly. After the assembly students will go to their B block classes with their teachers. Their lunch is from 12:05 to 12:45. They will be dismissed from school at 3:35 pm.
  • When students enter the building, they will be be asked to sanitize. They will also be asked to sanitize when they leave the building and throughout the day.

Reminders:

  • Students are asked to bring a reusable face mask if they have them.  To start the school year, we have disposable face masks for students to use, who do not have a mask.

Health Checks, Illness, and When to Stay Home (refer to the image below):

Within normal educational settings, children and staff will often have influenza or other respiratory viruses with symptoms similar to COVID-19.  For this reason, students and staff who are ill with fever or infectious respiratory symptoms of any kind need to stay home until they are no longer symptomatic, or they have been assessed by a health care provider to exclude COVID-19.

Parents are required to complete the following form through the Parent Connect portal and will acknowledge the parent’s responsibility to do daily at home health checks and to keep their child(ren) at home if they are unwell.
